Free, for Apple silicon, on macOS 14 or later. This download stays current.

Sayzen runs on Macs with Apple silicon and on 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. Open this page on one of them to download it.

Sayzen for Windows

Free, for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. This download stays current.

Opening it the first time

macOS stops it once, because it isn’t notarized yet.

Windows warns once, because it isn’t signed with a paid certificate yet.

  1. Drag Sayzen to Applications

Open the disk image and move Sayzen into your Applications folder.

  2. Open it and choose Done

macOS shows “Sayzen” Not Opened. Choose Done. On macOS 14 you can instead right-click Sayzen in Applications and choose Open.

  3. Allow it in Privacy & Security

Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, scroll down and choose Open Anyway.

  1. Open the installer

Open Sayzen-Setup.exe from your downloads. It installs for you alone, so it needs no administrator password.

  2. Choose More info, then Run anyway

Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”. Choose More info, then Run anyway. You only do this once.

  3. Finish and open Sayzen

Sayzen opens when the installer finishes. It uses Microsoft Edge WebView2, which Windows 11 includes. If your PC doesn’t have it, Sayzen links to Microsoft’s download.

After it opens

Allow access

Microphone, so Sayzen can hear you, and Accessibility and Input Monitoring, so fn works as a shortcut and text can be typed into other apps. Screen Recording is optional: Commands can see your screen with it, and Annotate asks for it the first time. System Audio Recording is asked for the first time you record a meeting.

Download the speech model

Sayzen starts with Parakeet, for English. For other languages, choose a Multilingual Whisper model. Transcription runs on the Mac from then on. Getting started

Add a key, if you like

Dictation needs none: on a Mac with Apple Intelligence, it’s cleaned up on the Mac. Commands and the Assistant use a key from Anthropic, OpenAI or OpenRouter. It stays in the Keychain.

Hold Right Ctrl to dictate

Your words are typed into the app you’re in. If Windows has turned off microphone access for desktop apps, Sayzen opens that setting. Every key can be changed in Settings.

Dictation works without one. Windows has no on-device model, so cleanup, Commands and the Assistant use a key from Anthropic, OpenAI or OpenRouter. It stays sealed on this PC.
