Meetings

Sayzen notices when a call starts and asks whether to record it. Afterwards it writes the meeting’s notes in Notes, with the transcript.

Which calls

Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Slack huddles, FaceTime, Webex, Discord and WhatsApp, and calls on Google Meet, Teams, Zoom and other sites in a browser. On Windows, FaceTime is recognized in the browser only.

Sayzen recognizes a call by which app is using the microphone. It never listens to find out.

Asking first

When a call starts, the island asks “Record this meeting?”:

  • Record records this call.
  • Not now records nothing this time.
  • Always records every call in that app from now on.
  • Never records nothing in that app from now on.

Settings › Meetings sets each app to Ask each time, Always record or Never record, and Recognise meetings turns it all off. Let everyone on the call know they’re being recorded; in some places the law requires it.

While it records

The island shows Recording with the time, and Stop. Sayzen records your microphone (You) and the call app’s own sound (Them), and transcribes both on your computer during the call. What you say to Sayzen meanwhile, such as a dictation or a question, is left out of the transcript.

Recording ends when you choose Stop, or when the call app has stopped using the microphone for 15 seconds.

The meeting’s note

The note has a Summary, Decisions, Action items and Open questions, with the transcript under it.

  • Your AI provider writes it when a key is saved.
  • Otherwise, on a Mac, Apple Intelligence writes it.
  • Without either, as on Windows without a key, the note holds the transcript alone.

No audio leaves your computer. To write the notes, only the transcript goes to the model, with the event’s title, invitees and length when Sayzen already has access to your calendar on a Mac.

The audio

The audio is deleted once it has been transcribed. Turn on Settings › Meetings › Keep the audio to keep it with the note, encrypted, until you delete the note.

Requirements

On a Mac, Meetings need macOS 14.2 or later, and the first recording asks for System Audio Recording so Sayzen can hear the call’s sound. On Windows, recording a call needs Windows 11.
